Synopsis
IN THEATRES: SEPTEMBER 6, 2000 TURN IT UP, based on GHETTO SUPASTAR, the autobiographical book and album by Prakazrel "Pras" Michel--former member of The Fugees--stars Pras and other well-known rappers such as Vondie Curtis Hall and Ja-Rule. Pras stars as Diamond, a gifted young musician with big dreams. However, he has a lot to deal with: his mother dies and his musical father (Vondie Curtis Hall) comes back into his life. Simultaneously his girlfriend (Tamala Jones) discovers she's pregnant. Still struggling to stay out of the violent drug world in which his best childhood friend (Ja-Rule) is still involved, Pras focuses on his music, fights to do the right thing, and eventually, finds fame. TURN IT UP is a dramatic story about the turmoil of urban life and one man's will to realize his dreams.
